When we first meet, whether by phone, video, or in person, I invite you to share whatever comes to mind, to whatever extent you feel comfortable. I want us to explore who you are, what concerns bring you to counseling, and the challenges you're facing in addressing these concerns. I listen with empathy, ask questions for clarity, am open and accepting to all concerns without judging, so we can allow our therapeutic relationship to develop naturally.
My style is natural and genuine. If you are looking for a blunt and critical person to give you a kick in the pants, that would not be me. However, if you need a knowledgeable therapist that comforts, listens, can relate to you, and truly cares, then I may be the one for you. I understand how vulnerable or even embarrassing it might feel to share your private personal life with a stranger, and I really take that into consideration to provide a comforting environment. I aim to guide you in the direction to have the most growth, the most self-improvement, and I always want to go at your pace and motivation level. If there is one day that you simply need to be heard, to vent and share, I will sit with you and listen thoughtfully and give you feedback if you need it. When you need to roll up your sleeves and get to work making change, I will join you. Together, we will develop a treatment plan to address your concerns, based on your goals.
We will examine what is and isn't working for you and how we might adjust things to suit you better. We will identify your goals. We will determine what is required to put you in the right direction to achieving your goals. I will teach you skills for tolerating the stress of new challenges, making change, and facing reality when you've taken a detour from your path. As your therapist, I can help guide you to doing what it takes to get you back on track.
As we collaborate, we will discuss your evolving therapeutic needs and goals, including an appropriate time for you to transition out of therapy. At any point in future, you are welcome and encouraged to return to resume our work or move toward new goals.

Therapy can be a difficult! It can be awkward to step into a vulnerable and private moment, to sit and talk with me as a stranger and to share their problems, or personal struggles, it can be incredibly stressful or even embarrassing. I would ask only that your child or partner give me a chance to gain their trust, or simply ask me questions, as they must also feel that my therapy style is a good fit for them as well.
Having worked as a child therapist, it is by nature that I happen to be the "first" therapist for many people, and I hope to have you feel as comfortable as possible throughout your therapy sessions.
This depends on the individual and what our treatment goals are. Most patients will have a session with me once a week, those with higher need may meet with me twice a week or follow up with me by text or email throughout the week. The frequency will depend on the treatment plan we agree upon at the start of service.
Therapy is a serious commitment, it takes mental effort, emotional tenacity, time and access. Unfortunately because access to therapy is a privilege, I understand that seeking information about therapy does not necessarily mean we are ready to begin therapy. As you gather information, and you find the best therapist for you, I am offering "Evaluation" cases, with no commitment to on-going therapy required. A professional biopsychosocial assessment will be completed as part of your evaluation. Contact me for more details
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, also known as a clinical therapist with a background in counseling. I am not a doctor of medicine and I am not a psychiatrist. I am not able to advise, recommend, nor prescribe medication of any kind. If you are seeking a psychiatrist I would be happy to provide you a referral, and with a release of information, I can contact the psychiatrist and collaborate on a service plan with you. I am happy to meet with other professionals to assist you in meeting your goals.
I am providing therapy by video only as a telehealth therapist. With the unprecedented events of the Covid-19 pandemic, going remote was a necessity yet is incredibly convenient. As a plus side, more Californians than ever before have been able to access mental health care virtually, being able to reach even the most remote and rural areas of our state. You and I can meet by video without having to commute. It is not uncommon that I have therapeutic relationships with patients from across the state!
Absolutely, as I accept third-party payments. If your EAP is involved, they may be the payer for your treatment. Sometimes a parent or family member may wish to cover cost of treatment services. Providing payment in no way authorizes disclosure of any private information. Your information remains confidential regardless of who provides payment. Reach out to me for more details.
