I have an extensive background in working with children as young as 3 years old through elementary and middle school. I have helped children at these ages with issues such as separation anxiety, attachment issues, trauma neglect and abuse, behavioral issues, temper tantrums, divorce, sibling rivalries, bullying, and ADHD.
I enjoy working with tweens and teens, there are so many dynamics affecting their mental and emotional health including puberty, sexuality, increased academic pressures, popularity, bullying, social media influences, peer pressures, family issues, and stages of independence and self-resiliency.
I understand that LGBTQiA+ persons are not all the same and I am whole-heartedly supportive and encouraging as we help process your journey together. I have helped LGBTQiA+ persons with specific issues including self-harm, self-confidence, self-esteem, new/ending relationships, safe sex issues, heteronormativity concerns, family concerns, gender dysphoria, and transgender issues. I have worked with a LGBT+ group co-facilitating a teen youth support group in Temecula.
Couples counseling is not just for those who are married. I love working with those who are in cohabitation relationships, dating, in courtship, engaged, have been married for years, contemplating separation/divorce, or struggling with parenting/co-parenting issues. Couples counseling brings people who have an intimate relationship at any stage into the treatment process to work on issues, and increase their connection. This type of counseling often focuses on the challenges within the relationship such as: communicating more effectively, overcoming adultery, issues surrounding division of labor, raising children, prevent separation/divorce, improving trust and mutual respect for each other, and various other things. Counseling can enhance our relationships by improving listening skills and understanding our partner’s point of view. Let me help you reconnect, rebuild intimacy, and rebuild the foundation of your relationship.
Family counseling brings parents, siblings, and extended family members such as aunts, uncles and grandparents into the treatment process. The family system has its own structure, and patterns of communication. This may be defined by parenting style, personalities, and other influences. Family counseling is often short term. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Family counseling sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections, and get through stressful times.
All families are unique, and experience conflict. Conflict can happen when family members have contrasting views or convictions that differ. Often times conflict can occur when people misunderstand each other and jump to the wrong conclusions. Issues of conflict that are not resolved peacefully can lead to arguments, and resentment. It is normal to disagree with each other from time to time. Frequent conflict can be emotionally draining, stressful and damaging to relationships. Some people find it difficult to manage their feelings, communicate their thoughts, and become intentionally hurtful, aggressive or even violent towards family members. Communicating in a positive way can help reduce conflict so that family members can reach a peaceful resolution, feel loved, and respected.
Although we might find ourselves obligated to fulfill court rulings and participate in therapy, I have experience in providing therapy services to children and adults that have pending court dates.
With your authorized consent, I am available to coordinate and consult with your medical care team to assist with an emotional support animal, although the appropriateness will be conducted on a case by case basis.
Do you find yourself rushing to meetings and not having enough time for yourself? Therapy does not need to be another meeting you rush to. I offer video and phone sessions for your convenience and you can do these from the comfort of your home, your office, or from wherever you are. California residents only.
